Laser cladding, also known as laser bonding or laser coating, is an advanced surface modification technology. This technology uses a high-energy-density laser beam to rapidly melt and solidify a pre- or synchronously supplied cladding material and a thin layer on the substrate surface, forming an alloy coating with excellent properties (such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance) that is metallurgically bonded to the substrate. Its characteristics include low heat input, minimal workpiece deformation, low coating dilution rate, and high bonding strength.

 

Laser cladding is mainly used for surface strengthening of critical components, repair and remanufacturing of worn or corroded parts, and additive manufacturing of metal parts. It is widely used in aerospace, energy equipment, rail transportation, mining machinery, and other fields, and is a highly efficient and green remanufacturing technology.
