The core principle of plasma cladding welding machines is the utilization of the high energy density of a plasma arc. A plasma arc is a compressed electric arc characterized by high temperature, concentrated energy, and good stability.

 

During operation, the welding machine establishes a plasma arc between the tungsten electrode and the workpiece, instantly melting the alloy powder delivered to the workpiece surface and simultaneously creating a thin molten pool on the workpiece substrate surface. The molten alloy material mixes with the substrate material in the molten pool, and after cooling and solidification, a metallurgically bonded coating is formed. The entire process is typically carried out under the protection of an inert gas to prevent adverse reactions between the molten metal and oxygen or nitrogen in the air.
